The conference, which takes place in Brighton this September, promises to be the country’s biggest gathering of people committed to improving the lives of men and boys in the UK.
Professionals and activists from all over the UK will gather to discuss, debate and share ideas on important topics like:
- Tackling male suicide
- Improving boys’ education
- Transforming men’s health
- Supporting dads
- Keeping men and boys safe
- Building the men and boys sector
The theme for this year’s even, which runs for 5 days from Wednesday 25th September to Sunday 29th September, is “Into The Mainstream”.
The main conference programme includes five key events and additional fringe events, talks and gatherings may be added in the coming weeks.
The five key events are:
Wednesday 25th September: Men and Sport – where we bring together practitioners from many different sectors to explore how we can use sport as a vehicle for transforming the lives of men and boys, with a particular focus on the role sport can play in tackling the many problems that men and boys face.
Thursday 26th September: Thinking Men –where we bring together some of the UK’s leading thinkers on men’s issues to explore what we have in common, where we think differently and how we can work together more effectively in the future.
Friday 27th September: Sector Gathering – which is the UK’s leading event for everyone who is committed to improving the lives of men and boys in the UK. This will be an Open Space-style event which will give representatives from the UK’s men and boys’ sector a unique opportunity to take ownership of the conference agenda on the day.
Saturday 28th September: Men of Faith and Spirit – where we will bring together delegates from a mix of religions and spiritual groups to share ideas and experiences on how to engage with men more effectively, how to help men develop, how to address men’s issues and how to help men help others.
Saturday 28th September to Sunday 29th September: Big Man Gathering II – This year’s conference culminate with the Big Man Gathering II. Following the success of last years’ event we’re inviting various groups and individuals from around the UK who are interested in men’s work, self development, men’s circles, rites of passage – all that kind of stuff – to come together to create an extraordinary weekend together.
If you are committed to improving the lives of men and boys and you think your needs aren’t met by this programme then we’d love to hear from you.
There is a limit to how many different key activities our core team can manage and we are open to supporting other groups who would like to put on events during this conference.
